CII Delhi Annual Session & Conference
Making Delhi India’s Retail Capital

Hotel Taj Mahal, New Delhi, India
March 15, 2013

New Delhi’s strong trading and retail has been the centerpiece of the city’s growth from time immemorial. Retail, Tourism, Luxury and Fashion industry have found important place in the city both in traditional and contemporary forms. It is in this context that a flagship Conference has been conceptualized by the Delhi Chapter of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), one which would strive to understand the evolving trends in Retail, Tourism, Fashion & Luxury, to define a new growth paradigm for Delhi and also to learn from best practices of other global cities like London, New York, Paris, Sydney, Dubai and Singapore.

The consumer sector has been through a transformation in the recent years. Though the market is large, it is also highly cost conscious, and companies need to keep a check on costs at every stage. On the other hand, they must also forecast demand to minimize -- and hopefully eliminate -- out-of-stock situations on retailers’ shelves, to minimize lost revenue. Infor and Third Eyesight bring to you the Business Efficiency Series for Fashion and Food & Beverage in Mumbai and Delhi. (More details on this page.)

Round Table Discussion on Sustainability

(By Invitation Only)

Hotel ITC Sheraton, Saket, New Delhi, India
14 November 2008

This is a round-table discussion initiated by a multi-billion dollar global brand and facilitated by Third Eyesight, focussing on the issue of how to drive ethical behaviour and sustainable business models into the fashion and lifestyle products industry. Participants include brands, retailers, manufacturers, compliance audit and certification agencies, craft and community oriented organisations and non-government organisations (NGOs) working on environment stewardship.

With growing trend of international buyers and domestic consumer market asking for value added services, it is imperative for Indian suppliers to develop their own design and product development team, in the shortest time, to compete in the global scenario. The product development pipeline, comprising of designers, merchandisers, buyers, raw material sourcing people, textile manufacturers and apparel manufacturers, must tap their skill-set of reading the market and developing new products that can differentiate their brands or retail stores.

The fast pace of the India retail industry presents many companies with a host of daily challenges. Maintaining competitive advantage in the face of increasing competition requires many retailers in India to improve facility flow-through, drive down the amount of inventory in their supply chain and meet escalating store and customer demands - all while operating within tight margins. India Supply Chain Council, with Third Eyesight as its knowledge partner, presents the first Retail Supply Chain Summit to explore retailer's challenges and possible solutions for India. With buyers insisting upon better products being made available faster and cheaper, and sellers striving to provide still more services at lower costs, global supply chain challenges have never been greater.

Concerns over threatened protectionist measures, environmental and social responsibility issues, all within the context of a rapidly evolving retail landscape, underline the difficulties ahead, even while technical developments and educational initiatives offer potential stability.

These are the themes of this year's Prime Source Forum organised by APLF Ltd. being explored by 37 industry leaders and specialists from the US, Europe and Asia shared their experiences and recommendations with more than 300 delegates from 23 countries and regions.

The Forum, first developed in 2006, has earned the reputation of a "must attend" event for senior apparel industry supply chain executives. While the complexities of current issues and challenges defy "silver bullet" remedies, much is gained from airing concerns within an atmosphere of open collaboration.

Retail Opportunities in India

DTI Conference Centre, 1 Victoria Street, London, SE1H 0ET, United Kingdom
19 March, 2007, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

(Organised By UKTI - UK Trade and Investment, under the British Government's Department of Trade and Industry)

The UK retail sector is among the most advanced in the world, which means opportunities to export UK expertise to emerging markets. The newly liberalised Indian market is a prime example, having been recognised as the world’s leading destination for retail investment by AT Kearney’s Global Retail Development Index. The Indian economy is growing by 8 per cent a year, its stock market has risen by nearly 40 per cent in 2005, and foreign investors are flooding in. Retail is India’s largest industry accounting for over 10 per cent of the country’s GDP. Modern retail is already thriving in India with multi-storey malls offering shopping, entertainment and food under one roof. A large, young, urban population with disposable income is driving demand. Seeing the opportunities, major players in India and overseas are entering the market.

The "Retail Opportunities in India Conference" provides the up-to-date view direct from India. The conference is aimed at companies in the retail industry considering entry into the retail market in India. ( More details )
